Expedition 5 is a major milestone for ARC Raiders players, especially beginners who may not have a large stash or expensive weapons ready to go. The good news is that you do not need a high-end loadout to prepare for the Expedition. With a simple farming plan, careful spending, and a focus on the right materials, you can build everything you need without constantly risking valuable gear.

The fifth Expedition window opens on September 8 and closes on September 29. Unlike previous Expeditions, there is no Last Call period, so players must sign up during the active window. Completing the Caravan beforehand is not enough by itself.

Step 1: Start With the Caravan

Your first priority should be completing the Caravan requirements. You can contribute to the Caravan before the Expedition window opens, which gives beginners plenty of time to collect resources gradually instead of trying to rush everything at the last minute.

Do not spend all your money on expensive equipment while working toward this goal. Save useful ARC Raiders Items whenever you find them during normal raids, especially common crafting materials that are required in large quantities.

Step 2: Farm Common Materials First

The first part of Expedition preparation is much easier if you build a large stockpile of basic materials before worrying about rare components.

Metal Parts, Plastic Parts, ARC Alloy, Magnets, Durable Cloth, Duct Tape, and Mechanical Components are among the important materials required across the early preparation stages. Current Expedition 5 guides list 485 total material units across the first four phases, making basic resource farming an important part of the process.

Instead of making specialized runs immediately, collect these materials during regular raids. Open industrial containers, search buildings thoroughly, and extract whenever your backpack contains enough useful resources.

Step 3: Save Rare Components

The later stages become more demanding because they require specialized ARC components. Advanced Mechanical Components, ARC Circuitry, Bastion Cells, Magnetic Accelerators, and other uncommon materials should not be casually recycled.

A common beginner mistake is selling or recycling an item simply because it is not useful for the current loadout. Check your Expedition requirements before getting rid of rare materials.

If you need to buy ARC Items to fill a small gap, do it selectively rather than spending your entire budget. Buying one missing component can save time, but repeatedly purchasing materials is usually less efficient than farming them yourself.

Step 4: Use Cheap Loadouts

There is no reason to bring your best weapons into every farming raid. A reliable low-cost rifle or SMG, basic armor, inexpensive healing, and a small amount of utility are enough for most resource runs.

Your goal is extraction, not winning every PvP encounter. If another Raider appears, avoid unnecessary fights unless the situation clearly favors you. Losing an expensive loadout while farming common materials can erase the progress from several successful raids.

Step 5: Build a Dedicated Expedition Stash

Create a separate mental checklist for Expedition materials. Keep required resources together and avoid using them for unnecessary crafting.

You should also maintain a second stash of basic raid equipment. This allows you to continue farming without touching the materials reserved for the Expedition.

Step 6: Prepare for the Final Challenge

Completing the Caravan is only part of the process. Once the Expedition window opens, you must sign up, complete the required challenge, and depart within the scheduled period. For Expedition 5, everyone who signs up departs on September 29, so there is no Last Call safety net.

The rewards make the preparation worthwhile. Expedition 5 offers the complete Zenith Outfit, Mystery Rewards, up to 12 additional stash spaces, and Expedition-related skill points and consecutive buffs.

Final Beginner Strategy

The cheapest approach is to prepare slowly rather than trying to buy everything at once. Farm common materials during normal raids, save rare ARC components, use inexpensive equipment, and extract whenever you have meaningful progress.

Most importantly, do not treat every raid as a combat mission. Expedition preparation is primarily a resource-management challenge. Once your stash is organized and your required materials are secured, the fifth Expedition becomes much less intimidating.

For beginners, patience is the strongest advantage. Build your resources one successful extraction at a time, protect your expensive gear, and enter Expedition 5 with a plan instead of a full backpack of unnecessary equipment.
